MANILA - A Filipina married to a Malaysian was killed in a fire that was allegedly started by a robber who entered their house in Johor Bahru in Johor Bahru Tuesday, but the Philippine embassy in Kuala Lumpur has requested local authorities for a full investigation into the incident.
In a news release, the Philippine embassy identified the victim as Ruby Lloren, native of Polomok, South Cotabato.
“The embassy, through its police attaché, has asked Malaysian police authorities for a full investigation of the tragic incident, particularly how and why Ms. Lloren was ‘trapped’ inside the burning house,” the embassy said.
The news was broken to her family in the Philippines by her Malaysian husband the afternoon of the same day. The husband “was said to be not at home when the incident happened,” the embassy said.
Lloren had been living in Malaysia with her husband for seven years and was working in a fast-food chain. She had a nine-year-old daughter.
